CONTRA EL MAR screens in competition at the Next Reel International Film Festival

The Next Reel International Film Festival is a biennial event organized by New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. It is the oldest international student film festival of its kind organized in the United States. 

The festival is scheduled to take place from February 5 – 10, 2012 and will host young filmmakers from 34 coveted film schools in 19 countries.

Director Richard Parkin wins DGA Student Film Award for CONTRA EL MAR

The Directors Guild of America has awarded Richard Parkin with a Student Film Award in the Latino Directors category for CONTRA EL MAR. The DGA Student Film Awards are presented annually to encourage and bring attention to outstanding minority and women directing students in California and select universities across the nation. 

An awards ceremony and film screening is scheduled for Wednesday, November 9 at 7:30pm at the DGA in Los Angeles.

CONTRA EL MAR screens at Palm Springs ShortFest Student Screening Day

CONTRA EL MAR will participate in a special screening of selected films from the Palm Springs ShortFest for local high school students. In partnership with the Palm Springs Unified School District, the Palm Springs Film Society will bring together students from Palm Springs High School, Cathedral City High School, Desert Hot Springs High School and Coachella Valley High School for the first annual ShortFest Student Screening Day. Director Richard Parkin will in attendance for a Q&A.

CONTRA EL MAR wins Best Student Film at the New York Hell's Kitchen Film Festival!

At the final night of the inaugural New York Hell's Kitchen Film Festival, CONTRA EL MAR was awarded Best Student Film in addition to participating in the "Best of the Fest" program of short films! Thank you to all who attended and a special thanks to NYHKFF!
